not complaining at all!

Nala was hit by a car Saturday (Sept 28th, update from 10/3 below). Her leg is probably broken, maybe the hip. Maybe dislocated. Possibly all of this. She needs to get to the doctor as soon as we can!

Thanks to the first donors Shannon was able to get Nala to a good vet who did a thorough exam and x-rays. She has a broken femur that requires surgery. The estimate is at the bottom of the page, here is the x-ray (you can click to enlarge it):

Shannon lives in Baltimore. About a year ago his dog had puppies, and he adopted them out. The man who adopted Nala called him recently and said he wanted to give Nala back. The man was moving, could not keep her, and would have to give her to the animal shelter.

Shannon knows a pittbull probably will get put-to-sleep in the shelter, so he took Nala back even though he is out of work and has no money at the moment. He took her for a walk Saturday, she slipped the leash, ran into the street and got hit!

The driver stopped and helped. Shannon and his son were able to corner Nala under a parked car and get her out. She never growled or bit. She doesn’t whine. She’s a very good dog. But clearly she has a serious injury.

Shannon is an independent local truck driver. He is currently out of work, and as an independent contractor gets no unemployment benefits. He literally has no money to take Nala to the doctor. He contacted the SPCA, where he got his dog spayed after she had puppies, and though they cannot help him the SPCA referred Shannon to us.

All donations are held by us and paid only to the vet for Nala’s leg surgery!
