Nala

About the Campaign

Nala was saved from the shelter two years ago. She was going to the shelter when Cindy stepped in and adopted her. See, Nala was a little bit of a bad girl. She would sometimes get aggressive with other dogs, and the man who owned her could not keep her. His landlord was complaining about having a large dog on the property, and Nala would react to other dogs and some people. So the owner was taking her to the animal shelter, when Cindy found out about it, and stepped in and adopted Nala!

This was about two years ago, and once she was with Cindy, Nala’s behavior has only gotten better. She gets lots of attention and exercise now and is a really good girl. But, like many Pittie type mixes she had knee problems.

Nala had surgery on one knee in December of last year (2021) and has recovered perfectly. But now it is time for the second knee. And it has gotten pretty bad. Poor Nala is now acting depressed, and often will sit in her bed and not get up. She is an active girl, and loves going outdoors and on adventures, but this knee must really hurt!

Nala is not excited for walks anymore, and often has a sad look on her face. Maybe she is remembering how her other knee bothered her so bad? In any case, she needs the second, and final surgery. Unfortunately, Cindy is still paying off the first surgery which she charged to Care Credit, and she has no more available credit. It is important to get this second surgery done as soon as possible, because now (when she does walk) Nala is putting all her weight on her other leg, which as we know already had knee issues.

The good news is that we know Nala did well with this surgery last time, and she is still young and healthy, so the procedure should be a success! All donations are strictly for Nala, for her TPLo (knee) surgery, and are only paid to the doctor’s office, Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital, who specializes in this procedure and is doing it at a discount!
