About the Campaign
Munchie Moncheezy is a 10-year-old male Staffordshire Terrier with a serious growth that has returned and worsened, and he needs urgent veterinary care. The next step is surgical removal plus biopsy, along with X-rays to check for spread and help the veterinary team understand what they’re dealing with. Without a biopsy, no one can say what this mass truly is, or what treatment comes next.
Gwenda first noticed a small “pimple” more than a year ago. Over time it grew into a large, mushroom-like mass near Munchie’s penis area. A year ago, Pets of the Homeless helped cover removal of a massive tumor, Gwenda was told it weighed about three pounds. At that time, Gwenda couldn’t afford the additional cost for pathology, so a biopsy was not done. Now the growth has come back much worse, and this time, biopsy and imaging are essential so Munchie doesn’t face this again in the dark.
Munchie also has a heart murmur, which makes careful pre-surgical planning even more important. Gwenda’s vet wants X-rays as part of evaluating how far the issue may have progressed and what anesthesia approach is safest. The goal is to get the mass removed, send it to pathology, and make sure the veterinary team has a clear picture of what’s happening inside Munchie’s body.
Munchie has been with Gwenda since he was a puppy. When he was about nine months old, Gwenda’s then-boyfriend brought him home after Munchie followed him from the other side of town and Munchie never left. When the relationship ended, the dog stayed with Gwenda. Munchie has been her constant through a life that hasn’t been easy, including past trauma and losses, and he’s still here.
Gwenda’s biggest barrier is financial. She does not qualify for CareCredit or traditional financing. She’s been unable to secure stable employment, does occasional under-the-table work when she can, and recently lost even that because her work truck broke down. Her household is stretched thin, and she simply doesn’t have the money for surgery, diagnostics, and pathology—especially after already facing a major tumor removal once.
Donations will help cover Munchie’s tumor removal surgery, X-rays, and biopsy/pathology testing so the vet can determine what this growth is and what treatment he needs next. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
