About the Campaign
Parvo Puppy needs hospitalization!
The rescue, SCARS, got a phone call from the doctor: “There is a family here, their puppy has Parvo, and they don’t have money. The dog is suffering, and will have to be put to sleep, unless the rescue can take him in and pay for treatment.”
What to do!? Parvo is a virus that attacks the intestines, the digestive tract. Basically, the puppy can not absorb nutrients, even water to some degree. Symptoms included vomiting, diarrhea, and no appetite. Once the disease is spread in the puppy and there are symptoms, all that can be done is supportive care.
But it is expensive. The puppy has to be hospitalized 24 hours for days. He needs an IV for fluids and some nutrients. He has to be protected to make sure he doesn’t catch any other disease, even a small cold, which could be deadly in this condition. Even with all this, it is not uncommon for the puppy to pass away.
The doctor called SCARS (SoCal Animal Rescue Squad) because he thinks this puppy has a good chance, with proper care. The rescue has taken the dog on, but needs help. All donations are for the non-profit rescue to help cover Muffin’s bill. His family just left him at the vet, even after agreeing to turn him over to the rescue they have not asked about him, and they were given that option… so if this little guy makes it (and he will with our help!!!) he is also gonna need someone to adopt him!
