About the Campaign
Goodest girl with the worst knee!
Mochi is a 7-year-old female Terrier mix with a complete cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear in her left knee and a possible partial tear in her right. In just one month, her walking changed, her pain escalated, and she’s now refusing to bear weight on the left leg. Two veterinarians have confirmed the injury, and surgery is the clear path to stabilizing her knee and getting her out of pain.
Yandery and Andy never saw a single “big moment” that caused the tear—just the normal life of a cuddly, active dog who loves jumping onto laps and couches and running around the yard. A vet suspects she may have slipped while running or landed wrong after jumping. What they did see was the progression: careful stepping at first, then three-legged running, and then a rapid decline to the point where Mochi can’t use the leg at all.
Mochi has been family since she was practically a newborn. Yandery found her as a tiny puppy—only a few weeks old—wandering on the front lawn at Northridge State College. She stopped her car, picked her up, and Mochi has been with her ever since. Mochi grew up alongside them, and today she’s their only dog—an emotional constant and the little heartbeat of their home.
The estimate they’ve been given is $5,018 for surgery on one leg alone, not including follow-up visits, X-rays, labs, and recovery needs. Also Mochi needs a custom brace for her other leg to reduce risk to injuring it, because right now all the weight is going to the that leg only. Between them, Yandery and Andy can contribute about $1,000–$1,500 from savings, and they’re trying everything else they can—planning a bake sale, selling collectibles, and asking family for help—because they don’t want Mochi to keep suffering while they scramble for funds.
Yandery works administrative/front desk at a UCLA clinic in Porter Ranch, and Andy works at a printing press in Santa Clarita. Even with two incomes, they’ve already had to downgrade their lives—renting a garage to live in because their old apartment became unaffordable—and they’re juggling student loans, insurance, and basic bills. They feared one medical emergency could topple everything. They just never expected it would be their dog!
Donations will help cover Mochi’s CCL surgery and the veterinary care needed for follow-ups and recovery—so she can get back on her feet and avoid further damage while the other knee is at risk. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
