About the Campaign
Misty is a 9-year-old female Maltese mix who needs dental work for heavy tartar buildup and loose teeth that are now making it painful for her to eat. Her owner, Thomas, noticed she was eating less, rubbing at her face, and acting uncomfortable. When he checked her mouth, he found several loose teeth and knew she needed a vet.
Thomas has already applied for CareCredit but was not approved, and he has received some help through a grant from Frosted Faces Foundation. But there is still a gap to close so Misty can get the dental care she needs, including likely extractions, cleaning, and treatment for the pain and infection in her mouth.
Misty came into Thomas’s life as a rescue. In 2019, she wandered into the company where Thomas was working as a manager. She smelled terrible, had open wounds, and clearly needed help. Thomas took her that same day, got her cleaned up, brought her to the vet, and started trying to find her a home.
At the time, Thomas was running his own small private rescue effort. He was making good money and regularly helped stray animals, getting them vetted and trying to reunite them with their owners or find them safe homes. Misty was supposed to be another foster. But she met Thomas’s Maltese, Marley, and the two bonded right away. Thomas failed as a foster, and Misty became family.
The financial situation has changed dramatically since then. Thomas lost his job last year after being with the company for nine years. He had double hernia surgery, took time off to recover, and was fired after missing work for the surgery. He is now pursuing a wrongful termination case, but in the meantime he has burned through his savings and maxed out credit cards just trying to stay afloat.
Thomas now works part-time at Costco and has just been approved to do Instacart so he can try to keep his car from being repossessed. He is behind on car payments, living check to check, and trying to cover his share of household bills while his partner Dante carries much of the financial load. Thomas says he would work or volunteer to help pay the cost if he could.
Misty has already been rescued once. Now she just needs help getting out of pain so she can eat comfortably again. Donations will help cover Misty’s dental procedure, including cleaning, extractions if needed, medications, and related veterinary care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. We do not have a specific estimate, but a price list, which is below (click to enlarge):

I rescue Shelter dogs on the brink of euthanizing. When I see a beautiful survivor like this I want to reward the vets who help them back to health!
