About the Campaign

Fighting Kidney Disease

Miso, a playful and affectionate 2-and-a-half-year-old tabby, is one of David’s beloved rescue cats. Born to a stray named Peanut, Miso has always been surrounded by family—his mother and siblings, Hiromi and Tiramisu, all live together in a close-knit, heartwarming group. But now, Miso is facing a life-threatening battle with kidney disease, and he urgently needs help to get the care that could save his life.

Last Friday night, Miso began vomiting uncontrollably. At first, David hoped it was just a virus. But by Sunday morning, when Miso showed no signs of improvement, David rushed him to an emergency vet. Bloodwork revealed alarming levels of creatinine and BUN, indicating serious kidney damage. The road to stabilizing Miso is complex, and the cost of his ongoing treatment is estimated at $8,000 or more.

David, a lifelong rescuer and caregiver for animals, has dedicated his life to saving and nurturing those in need. Over the years, he has taken in more than 100 animals—many of them bottle-fed, abandoned babies. Even local rescues trust David to care for vulnerable animals, knowing his passion and experience are unmatched. He’s also cared for his other cat, Creamsicle, through a two-year battle with lymphoma, which left him financially strained when Creamsicle sadly passed away last year.

Now, David needs help to save Miso. Despite applying for Care Credit, he was declined and is only able to cover about $5,000 of the treatment costs out of pocket. Miso’s condition is treatable, and with your help, he has a good chance of living a full and healthy life alongside his feline family. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Miso’s veterinary care. Copy of estimate is below, please click to enlarge:
