About the Campaign

Minnie has been in pain for the past month and was initially diagnosed with gastrointestinal issues. However, after visiting an emergency veterinarian, it was determined that Minnie may have Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a condition similar to a slipped disk in humans.

IVDD occurs when the fluid between the discs in the spine leaks out and causes pain. In severe cases, it can lead to paralysis and other symptoms. Although Minnie has not shown any signs of paralysis yet, Mollie is worried about the possibility.

The veterinarian has recommended an MRI and a spinal tap to determine the extent of Minnie’s condition and to come up with a proper treatment plan. Mollie has already spent approximately $2,000 out of pocket and estimates that the cost of the MRI and any necessary treatment will be between $7,000 and $10,000.

Mollie works in marketing and is still paying off student loans from college, making it difficult for her to save up for Minnie’s medical expenses. Mollie rescued Minnie in September, when she was in a holding situation and had just had six puppies. Mollie fell in love with Minnie and took her home, not realizing that she was facing such a difficult situation.

In a statement, Mollie said, “It’s possible little Minnie has IVDD, an autoimmune disorder or cancer. She has been in pain for a month now and we have tried treating it as IVDD but she is not showing much improvement. The vet said she needs to have an MRI and Spinal tap so we can see what we are dealing with and come up with a care plan.”

Minnie and Mollie need help in raising the funds necessary to pay for Minnie’s medical expenses. Donations are just for Minnie and are paid directly to the veterinarian only.
