About the Campaign
Milo is a 1-year-old male Miniature Schnauzer with patellar luxation, a painful condition where the kneecap slips out of place. What started as limping has become much worse, and now Milo is barely walking. His family says he even seems scared of normal things, like going near his water bowl.
This began at the end of June, when Milo suddenly yelped and started limping. Sofia took him to a vet, who diagnosed a luxating patella. Wanting to be sure, she took him for a second opinion, and the diagnosis was the same. The vet explained that small dogs can develop this problem when the kneecap pops out of place, causing pain, limping, and a skipping or hopping gait.
Milo came into Sofia’s family because her two children saved up for him. Emma and Evan had $400, found Milo through a listing, and he was exactly the puppy they could afford. His birthday is July 4th, and from the moment they brought him home, everyone fell in love with him. Sofia works from home, so she is with Milo all day, and he has become the love of her life.
The new puppy!:
Sofia works in customer service for a manufacturing company and is raising two children on her own. Their father is no longer in the picture and does not help financially. Sofia pays rent, bills, and all household expenses herself, and her car payment is already late. Emma is 14 and Evan is 12, and both just started school again, bringing all the usual back-to-school costs. Sofia lives paycheck to paycheck and knows she would be declined for CareCredit, so surgery is simply out of reach without help.
Milo is still just a baby, and this is a fixable problem if he can get the care he needs. He’s a good boy in a good home, he just needs help from all of us to get his knee fixed. Donations will help cover his patellar luxation surgery, anesthesia, pain medication, X-rays or pre-surgical care, follow-up visits, and recovery so Milo can walk, play, and live without constant knee pain. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. The full vet bill is below, click each page to enlarge:
