Broke both bones!
Milo is a 6-month-old male Havapoo who broke his front leg (radius and ulna) and needs orthopedic care right away. A splint is being adjusted to help keep the bone aligned, but the veterinary recommendation is clear: surgery is needed to properly repair the fracture and give Milo the best chance to heal correctly.
The accident happened on February 10 while Dynesti was helping her sister in the backyard. Milo was following along, slipped, and his leg got caught in a crack near the steps. He fell from about the fourth step and hit the ground hard, breaking both the radius and ulna. Dynesti got him to a vet within 15–20 minutes, and X-rays confirmed the fracture.
Dynesti and her family have only had Milo since February 2, but he’s already become a beloved part of the household. Dynesti found him through a rehoming post and chose Milo because her 3-year-old son, Josiah, has severe allergies and asthma and needed a hypoallergenic dog. Milo was calm, gentle with kids, and quickly became the “perfect little puppy” for their family—especially for a child who had been asking for a dog.
Now, the cost of surgery is the barrier. Dynesti is currently a stay-at-home mom and is also pregnant and due next month. She lives with her mother and relies on CalWORKs to help with rent, and childcare would cost more than she could realistically earn by returning to work right now.
Milo’s injury was a sudden, painful accident they never expected, and Dynesti is doing everything she can to get him the care he needs before the bones heal incorrectly. Because both of the bones are broken there is nothing to stabilize either bone, and surgery is needed.
Donations will help cover Milo’s fracture repair surgery and related veterinary care so he can heal properly and return to being the happy, playful puppy he was before this happened. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
