Mighty Mouse

About the Campaign

Stray little guy has a dental infection.

Little Mighty Mouse is just about five pounds, and he’s about five years old too. Mouse (we’re gonna shorten his name) came out of the animal shelter in Fresno.

He had been brought in as a stray and the shelter had him listed as just one year old. Despite being a cute and young little guy, he wasn’t getting adopted. Black dogs are not the most popular to get adopted, and he was also terrified in the shelter and would hide and not interact with visitors.

A local rescue group saw he was on the list to be euthanized and reached out for help, which Soul2Soul Animal Rescue in Oregon responded to. They thought at just a year old he should be healthy, just needing to be neutered, and he would also be highly adoptable in their area.

But when Mouse got brought up to Oregon a different story came out. He wasn’t one, he was four to six years old. He is teeth were terrible, with infection of the gums. On top of that, he was cryptorchid, meaning he had a testicle that had not descended making neuter more complicated.

He is now living with a foster family in Oregon, awaiting surgery. He is a grumpy guy that hides from the other small dogs in the house, but this is almost assuredly because he is in chronic pain. Unfortunately the rescue has committed to a number of dogs with serious health problems and was not expecting this medical situation with Mouse, who they were told was only a year old. The good news is that the rescue has a lot of interest in small dogs like him, black or otherwise, and is confident he will get adopted once his medical situation is good. He has an estimate for his dental work, and the doctor is not charging extra for the cryptorchid complication for his neuter.

All donations are for Mighty Mouse, and paid only to the vet. See the estimate below, and click to enlarge:
