About the Campaign

Say Hello to Mia

This adorable, 9 year old, mustached, little feline loves to cuddle, play, and hang out with her furry pals Junior and Webster. Unfortunately, Mia hasn’t been feeling very well. Mia is losing weight FAST!  Every time our animals begin rapidly losing weight we can be sure of two things: Something’s wrong and whatever it is, it’s dangerous! As soon as she noticed the change, Mia’s owner Brenda took her to the vet.

Mia, Webster, and Junior

Mia has undergone quite a few exams to determine the root of her weight loss but everything is coming back clean. Blood work and 2 fecal exams ruled out parasites, organ failure, diabetes, and thyroid issues. Brenda feeds Mia all day long but Mia just isn’t putting on any weight. Whatever issue she’s having has to be deeper. So, the next step for Mia is an ultrasound. The vet wants to see if there are any masses or tumors in her abdominals causing the weight loss.

Brenda and Mia came together about 8 years ago. Brenda had finally moved into a home that allowed indoor cats and she couldn’t wait to have a new furry companion. Mia was a rescue found in a colony of stray cats. Mia was pregnant and once having all her kittens adopted out, she was just waiting for someone to adopt her. Mia didn’t take to many people right away. However, she took to Brenda in a heart beat and found her forever home.

Mia's Weight History:

05/20/2011 – 10.70 lbs

06/04/2016 – 10.69 lbs

10/05/2017 – 8.75 lbs

10/21/2017 – 8.94 lbs

05/31/2018 – 6.94 lbs

06/25/2018 – 6.81 lbs

07/27/2018 – 6.56 lbs

Mia was on medication that at first, didn’t do much to help.  The only way to accurately treat Mia is to obtain a proper diagnosis with this ultrasound. Unfortunately, Brenda has exhausted all her financial resources with Mia’s previous testing. She’s hoping to get assistance for Mia’s ultrasound and any further medical treatment. This is a two part fundraiser! We’re asking for your help in getting Mia the thorough diagnosis she needs and to stay tuned into her campaign for the treatment.

Hoping someone will help my Mia. She’s just skin and bones now. Begs for food constantly which is not normal for her at all, and I feed her all she can eat but she’s still not gaining any weight. I just can’t imagine what is wrong with her and I love her so much – I don’t want her to die! I fear I’ll come home some day and find her dead from malnutrition.

      Hi Barbara!

Do we know each other?? I am SOOO grateful for your donation to help top off this campaign. Because of issues with my original vet clinic, I have changed to a new animal hospital and am currently working with them to determine the best diagnostic and treatment plan for Mia. I am very hopeful that the new vet will be able to help.

Again, you are a wonderful human being!

      Very sincerely,

      Brenda (and Mia)
