CONDITION OF MELON WHEN RESCUED
Melon came to Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue because she was in a lot of pain and unable to move. Notice in some of the pictures posted is here laying on a bed that is wet with urine and that her hind area is covered with fecal matter. She cannot get up to relieve herself. Surgery is needed to fix her leg so she will be able to use the bathroom on her own and the vet says Melon has good prognosis.
ABOUT THE RESCUE GROUP
Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue is a 100% volunteer rescue group that rescues and re-homes Golden Retrievers. They also try to help Golden mixes who desperately need help. Many dogs come to them in very poor shape. Because of this, they must constantly try to raise funds to get the money necessary to help these poor dogs. Melon’s expenses are fairly extensive so the rescue asked for help. All of their expenses are paid through donations from caring people.
HOW THE RESCUE GOT MELON
Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue (GRCGLA) was asked by another rescue in Mexico to take this poor baby. Poor Melon was living outside with a family who could not provide for her much-needed medical care, so they gave the dog to the rescue, who then gave the dog to GRCGLA.
All of this transporting happened while Melon was in a lot of pain but she was always so sweet and seemed to appreciate everything that was being done for her. The rescue got her to their vet’s office as quickly as they could and started her on pain medication and good food. She was diagnosed with a fractured left pelvis, making it impossible for her to stand, let alone walk. She is otherwise healthy and the rescue would like to give her another chance at life, running and playing again like all dogs should.
