About the Campaign
Not even 2 years old and Maya has experienced enough pain to last a lifetime! Maya has severe hip dysplasia in both hips and needs an above the elbow amputation. This puppy is in a world of pain and could really use your help!
According to Maya’s owner, she was born at a backyard breeder and was attacked at just 4 weeks old by another dog. As a result of this, she fractured her ribs and her left arm became more than just lame. It’s believed that Maya then bounced around from home to home. Her last owners were unable to take care of her as they found them selves living out of their car. Maya couldn’t possibly survive under these conditions. As word got around, Maya was eventually transported 3,000 miles to Suzanne and her vet.
Maya was rescued 4 days ago by Suzanne Mikhail. Suzanne runs a small rescue that caters mainly to medical dogs. We value her work in the rescuing community and want to do our best to help both Maya and Suzanne. When Suzanne first brought Maya home, she was in so much pain she yelped when trying to sit. The vet determined that her left arm had taken so much damage it was beyond repair. In addition to that, both her hips needing surgery.
It’s breaking Suzanne’s heart to put Maya through this but it’s important that Maya has the chance to move on with her life. We will follow Maya all through her journey. First, we are fundraising for the left arm amputation. After she recovers, we will do our best to assist with her Hip Dysplasia. With our combined efforts we’re sure we’ll be able to get Maya the care she needs.
For now, Maya needs lot’s of rest and can sleep better with her pain medication. We’ll be spreading the word as much as we can because this poor girl can’t wait for surgery much longer.
