About the Campaign
Poor Maverick has a big tumor of some sort.
It is pushing his penis over to his left.
He can’t run, which helped in catching him, but it must hurt!
On Sunday July 28th, when it was over 100F, Dolores saw this little dog walking, stiffly down the side walk in Perris, CA (about 60 miles east of Los Angeles). She pulled over, and though he tried to run off, he couldn’t get very fast and she was able to catch him. See video below:
At first Dolores had thought he was a black dog, but on getting him she realized that he had just lost much of his hair and had mange. In addition, she discover why he was having trouble walking. There is a large tumor, or perhaps hernia in his lower belly. It is even pushing his penis over to his left!
Maverick was transported to Camino Vet in Irvine, Tuesday July 30th. He is not chipped. Has, most likely, a testicular tumor. He is just around 2 years old, so hopefully it can be removed, isn’t more of a problem than that, and he will be a happy healthy doggie in about a month! Here is a video at the vet explaining (it’s short):
The surgery was a success and he is recovering very well. He is in Irvine, CA now and could use a foster! If he has a foster he can leave the hospital. The tumor is being biopsied and we will have results next week. He was x-rayed and his lungs are clear. The vet is very hopeful for him.
Hedi from the vet explains his surgery:
We have paid $1300 to El Camino Vet, ALL FROM DONATIONS. The biopsy will be an additional $300. There is daily hospitalization and medications. There will be at least one follow up appointment. If his tumor is cancer, it is possible we will need other treatments. We will update on this next week.
