About the Campaign
Cannot keep food down,
choking and trouble breathing as well.
Maui, an 11-year-old Pitbull, has a large thymoma (tumor) in her chest that is making her very sick. The tumor is pressing on vital organs and has caused serious secondary conditions, including megaesophagus and myasthenia gravis.
These issues make it difficult for her to swallow, keep food down, and maintain her strength. Maui’s vet explained that the tumor is the root cause of all of this—if it is removed, the other conditions should resolve on their own. Her prognosis is very good, but with out surgery it is fatal.
Amanda, Maui’s mom, has been working with her vet to keep the cost as low as possible. She’s cutting out an expensive CT scan to focus directly on the procedure, and she has arranged a small discount. Amanda is also contributing as much of her own money as she can. But even with those steps, the surgery is still too expensive for her to manage alone, and she is asking for help to save Maui’s life.
Amanda first met Maui when she was just 8 weeks old—part of an accidental litter at a friend’s home. At the time, Amanda had just left an abusive relationship where she was not even allowed to have a dog. When she visited, Maui would crawl into her lap every time, as if she knew Amanda needed her. Amanda says she broke down crying after one visit, realizing she couldn’t live without this little puppy!
Since then, Maui has been Amanda’s steady source of love through some very hard years. Two years ago, Amanda suffered severe injuries, leaving her partially paralyzed for months and hospitalized for a week. She still lives with advanced osteoarthritis and chronic pain from that ordeal. On top of that, she lost her job last year and has struggled to get back on her feet financially. Despite these challenges, Amanda has always found a way to provide for Maui and her other rescue dog, Denver.
Now Maui is the one who urgently needs help. With this surgery, she has an excellent chance to get her quality of life back and continue being Amanda’s best friend for years to come. Every dollar raised will go straight to the veterinary clinic for Maui’s care, and below is the estimate (click to enlarge):

Let’s help Maui get the necessary medical attention she needs. I pray there’s some more donors who’ll donate 🐶❤️
