About the Campaign

Malani has a loose tooth

She is named for one of the Ewok characters from Star Wars. Malani’s owner Lynn had a Yorkie named Ewok who passed away, and when she got Malani she decided to continue the theme 🙂

Malani with a photo of Ewok behind her:

Malani is a sweet dog, very friendly, likes to meet new people and walking her has led Lynn to make a lot of friends. Lynn also keeps diligent care of Malani’s teeth, knowing that Yorkies and all smaller dogs are prone to dental problems. In fact it was at her yearly dental cleaning that Malani’s problem was first noticed.

Her big tooth is loose, and recently when Lynn brushes Malani’s teeth, even a little bit, the gums bleed. Lynn has called a number of places, including CAMP: Community Animal Medicine Project, a low-cost, non-profit provider of care for animals. The guess is that Malani’s procedure will be about $750 including medications to go home. Malani will be getting a written estimate later, and when she does we will add it in below.

Lynn is a freelance writer, and right now is having some financial problems. A company she has been working with for years, and has been her main source of income recently, has gotten into financial trouble themselves, and is months behind on paying her. It is also a slow time of year for the type of feature writing Lynn does. On top of this, as a freelancer, she does not qualify for unemployment or other benefits.

Happy July Everyone!

The good thing is that Malani’s condition was caught quick, before major gum disease and the need to do gum surgery and remove many teeth. So let’s get this little cutie into the vet and taken care of while it is still a simple procedure! The pricing is as low as can be found, and all money is paid directly to the veterinarian, not the owner, when the procedure is performed. Thank you for helping Malani 🙂

I do love a little Yorkie! In 2021, I fostered a dear little 15yo man who was dumped in a field in Bakersfield in the Summer heat; he had to have all his teeth out due to terrible neglect. Lynn is doing everything right for her little Malani; he’s lucky to have such a Mama(*and* she’s a writer!)
