About the Campaign
We had Ron take Maggie May to the vet for an update. They did a blood test, and Maggie is ok for surgery. But they said it was very urgent. On a scale of 1-4 her dental condition is a 4 (“Four plus!”, said the doctor)… she needs the surgery urgently. Not only is it painful, but the dental infection is probably contributing to other problems and could spread to the blood. The vet scheduled her for a month out because they are so busy, but we got a call today that due to cancelation they can do surgery FRIDAY, March 10th. Donations needed urgently.
Ron has had Maggie May since she was a kitten, rescued her from the animal shelter with her brother almost 11 years ago!
Five years ago she was diagnosed with diabetes, and Ron took extra care of her, including a special diet and the diabetes went into remission for six years!
But now she is testing as diabetic again, and she has a gum infection with some bad teeth. It is possible that the infection is contributing to her problems, but it is also inevitable as she gets older that the diabetes will return.
Maggie is a great cat, very loving and vocal. Ron works with cat rescues, and is living on a small fixed income. All donations are for Maggie to get insulin and other diabetes treatments for the next six months, as well as the dental cleaning and gum surgery that she needs. Donations are only paid to the veterinarian, never the owner!
