About the Campaign

Hit by a car, now post-surgery complications!

Macho, a 7-year-old, 145-pound White German Shepherd, is fighting to recover after being struck by a car earlier this year. The accident left his back leg dangling, and he underwent emergency orthopedic surgery with plates put in to stabilize the bone. His family thought the worst was behind them—but complications have followed.

The skin won’t heal properly over the plates, and they now need to be removed. Until then, Macho has to see the vet weekly for painful bandage changes that cost $77 each time. His mom, Irma, has already paid more than $4,000 on credit cards for the first surgery and is out of options. She simply can’t afford another big bill on top of the ongoing weekly care.

Macho’s story started on Irma’s family’s farm, where his parents were working dogs. She kept him and his sister Stella from the first surprise litter, and they’ve grown up as beloved family members alongside her children, Adrian (21) and Kaylee (14). As a single mother working in her family’s small business, Irma has done everything she can for Macho, but she needs help now to give him the surgery that will finally let his leg heal and end this painful cycle.

>Macho’s prognosis is good—once the plates are removed, his leg can heal, and he’ll be able to enjoy life again without constant pain and bandage changes. Every donation goes directly to the veterinarian for his care. Vet estimate below, click to enlarge:
