About the Campaign
Luna just sat down,
and would not get up!
In late July Luna’s family found her sitting on the floor, but refusing to get up. Usually an active and happy dog it was strange. Then she started scooting, and looked like she wanted to bark, but could not. Immediately they rushed her to Emergency Vet. They didn’t have much to say, so the family then went to VCA Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergencies and Referrals in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
There they got an estimate for surgery to correct Intervertebral Disk Back Disease (IVDD). This is a known problem in the breed, and you can see more information in the link.
In the meantime:
Luna goes to physical therapy, is receiving “cold laser” therapy, and is taking pain and anti inflammatory medications. Luna’s family hopes to keep her muscles working, avoid atrophy, and reduce pain while Luna awaits surgery for IVDD.
The family has been paying for this treatment so far, and has some money for the surgery, but they cannot afford it all and need help. The husband is an oil rig worker who is currently out of work, and mom is a social worker (not the highest paid job!). Money donated to this campaign is specifically only for Luna, and is always only paid to the veterinarian, not the owner or other individual. Thank you for considering a donation to Luna!
