About the Campaign

Mass Removal and Dental Surgery

Lucy has a golf-ball-sized mass under her front leg that now needs to be removed and biopsied, and she also needs a dental cleaning with possible extractions while she’s under anesthesia. Her family wants to do it all in one procedure so she doesn’t have to suffer or risk the mass affecting her ability to walk.

Lucy showed up as a stray eight years ago and simply never left. Cindy and her husband, Michael, had just lost their senior Chihuahua of 15 years, and even though they thought of themselves as “cat people,” this little dog who looked just like their old one slipped right into their home and their hearts.

The vet thinks Lucy’s mass might be a fatty tissue growth, but they won’t know for sure until it’s removed and sent for biopsy. Most of the time she seems okay, but if someone lifts her and presses that spot, she yelps in pain. Cindy is afraid that waiting longer will make it harder for Lucy to move comfortably.

Money is the only thing standing in the way. Cindy is a high school English teacher, Michael works in sales, and they are already stretched thin caring for eight rescued cats and paying for spay/neuter to stop the endless litters in their neighborhood. On top of that, Cindy has been dealing with a painful frozen shoulder, and last September Jacob was hit by a car while riding his bike to school. He was lucky to escape with “only” a fractured finger and road rash, but the emergency and follow-up bills added to their debt. Simply, they do not have the cash for this procedure and no access to credit.

Lucy is otherwise a healthy, happy 9-year-old, and with this surgery, biopsy, and dental care, she should be able to enjoy many more good years with her family. Your donation will help get her mass removed, her mouth treated, and her pain under control. Estimate is below, please click to enlarge:

Here’s hoping Lucy gets the funds for the medical attention she needs.
