About the Campaign

Found stray with an injury.

Lizette came home last week, on a cold evening, to find this beautiful Husky mix sitting in her yard. Later she found from neighbors that the dog had been seen in the neighborhood for about a week or so. She felt bad, and it was going to rain, so she put out some food by her front door and hoped the shy dog would go for it. And the doggie did! Lizette was then able to close the gate and effectively trap her inside.

It turns out there is an owner, and the dog’s name is Lucki… but her owner didn’t want her back. Luck escaped over four months ago, and since then her owner has moved and says she can no longer have a dog. The owner also said that when Lucki escaped her eye was normal and not injured.

So a lot probably happened with Lucki in those four months and many miles between her old home and where she was found by Lizette. Maybe she was injured in an animal attack (or a human), maybe it was an accident. But whatever it was, her right eye is no longer working, injured beyond saving. It needs to be removed to prevent infection. Also, Lucki is not spayed. In fact she’s never been to the vet.

Lizette spent about $400 on her already, getting Lucki vaccines, and checkout, deworming all that basic stuff… but now needs some help getting Lucki her necessary eye surgery and spayed. Lizette plans to keep Lucki, and this is one less dog in the shelter, and one less unspayed dog running around stray, so let’s help! All donations are only for Lucki and paid to the vet when she gets her surgery. The estimate is below, click to enlarge:

I had seen this dog in the neighborhood for about a week and a few days later I saw her being walked on a leash. I had felt so bad for her as I couldn’t take her in at the time and keep her safe & secure. God bless Lizette & Juan for providing shelter, love & care for her. Lucki is definitely an appropriate name for her. Wishing everything goes well with her vet treatments.
