About the Campaign

This beauty is Lola Bell

About 2 years ago, Lola went in for a standard dental cleaning and what was supposed to be a routine operation turned into something much, much more. As soon as Lola went under anesthesia she began seizing uncontrollably. The vet quickly pulled her out, waited a little, and attempted to put her under a second time. This was done a few times before the vet called it quits. They informed Lola’s mom, Suzanne, that she was a high risk patient and in order to have her teeth cleaned, she would need to be seen by a dental specialist. Lola had never had a seizure prior to this day and luckily never had another one after.

Suzanne waited to have Lola put under again (recommended). Her poor pup had went through too much and she didn’t know that there was more to come. During the waiting period, Lola developed a severe liver disease and pancreatitis. She needed to be treated and stable before undergoing surgical work yet again. Suzanne was taking on a lot financially. Lola Bell and her sister Gracie May both became ill. Gracie May had two surgeries for cancer in order to prolong her life and Lola herself,  was still recovering. The expenses grew higher and luckily Lola Bell and Gracie may got better.

Now, it’s finally time to get Lola’s teeth cleaned! The original estimate for the dental work was
around $600. After seeing a specialist, that prices doubled!  Having exhausted her financial resources, Suzanne is hoping that she can get some assistance. “Anything would help!” Suzanne says. Suzanne has emerged herself even deeper into the animal and rescuing community. She understands the importance of nutrition and dental amongst animals and exercises her knowledge to the fullest to ensure that her rescues have the happiest, healthiest life possible. It has become a passion of hers and she wishes to grow and share that knowledge with others.

Suzanne and Lola were destined to be together! Every dog she’s owned she’s adopted/rescued. One day,  Suzanne felt the overwhelming urge to got to PetSmart’s adoption event. What is was she didn’t know, but she had to go! Once she got there she went in and saw Lola. Lola had just been rescued and spayed from a puppy mill in Miami; Suzanne walked right up to the staff and said “I need this dog”. Lola sat on her lap and the two instantly connected. However, Lola was already adopted and promised to another owner who would pick her up that day. Still not wanting to give up and her companion, Suzanne said “No, I need this dog”. Suzanne waited all day and crazy enough, the adopter never showed.   The event holders said it was written in the stars; Lola is her dog. “She’s amazing, she’s my little spit fire.” Suzanne says.

Lola and Suzanne need your help to get this surgery. A procedure that’s usually manageable with some time and saving with a standard vet became much more expensive with a specialist. Only 7 years old, Lola will need to have this dental work in order for her to live the many years of her life she has left.
