About the Campaign
Lola Rojas is a 7-year-old female Pit mix with skin cancer. Daniel already got one tumor removed, using the CareCredit he was approved for, but now the cancer has come back and Lola needs another surgery to remove the new tumors.
The hopeful news is that Lola’s veterinarian believes she has a good chance of living more years if the tumors can be removed. This is not about giving up or simply keeping her comfortable. Lola still has a real chance, but she needs surgery before the cancer has more time to progress.
Lola has been with Daniel since she was about 9 months old. He rescued her from the streets in the mountains of Colombia, where he is originally from. She became family, and when Daniel’s company moved him and his wife to Raleigh, North Carolina, they brought Lola with them. He says she is like their third child, and they would not have left Colombia without her.
The cost is the barrier. Daniel and his wife both work, but they only moved to the United States about a year ago. Buying a home, getting settled, daycare for their two young children, cars, insurance, mortgage, utilities, food, and the cost of bringing Lola into the country have taken their savings.
Daniel already put about $2,100 on CareCredit for Lola’s first tumor removal, and now she needs another surgery. The amount needed for this fundraiser is $3,600. Daniel is very distressed that he cannot simply pay for it himself, but the expenses of starting over in a new country have left the family stretched thin.
Lola survived life as a stray, came with her family across countries, and is deeply loved. Donations will help cover her skin cancer tumor removal surgery, anesthesia, medications, biopsy or lab work if needed, and follow-up care so Lola can have the best chance at more healthy years with her family. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
