About the Campaign

Lola is a 1-year-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was hit by a car in a hit-and-run. She has a broken hip, and the injury is so painful that she cannot walk. Da’nya says Lola cries if she moves at all, so they are keeping her crated and using diapers because she cannot go outside to use the bathroom on her own.

The accident happened on Sunday. Lola got out of the backyard and was struck by a car that drove away. A neighbor saw what happened and came to tell Da’nya and her mother, but could not get the license plate. Lola ran back under the fence screaming.

Da’nya and her mother took Lola to the vet as soon as they could. The hospital confirmed the injury, but does not do the surgery she needs. They were given a rough estimate for what the repair may cost, and now Lola needs to get to a surgeon so her hip can be fixed and she can stop living in pain.

Lola came into Da’nya’s life just a few months ago. Da’nya had dreamed of having a Cavalier since she was a child. When she saw Lola’s picture online, with bows in her hair and such a sad look on her face, she felt she had to help her. Lola became the dog Da’nya had always wanted, and now she is family.

The cost is the barrier. Da’nya is in college studying psychology and lives with her mother, Diana, who works for the post office and is carrying the household bills on one income. College expenses are already a lot, and the family has also been hit with several emergencies: a broken washer and dryer, Da’nya’s car engine failing, and Diana’s own car being damaged in a hit-and-run and still being in the shop.

Lola is young, sweet, and in terrible pain from an injury that can be treated. Donations will help cover her orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, hospitalization, pain medication, and follow-up care so she can heal, walk again, and have the life this little dog deserves. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
