About the Campaign

Dog Attack Left Her Injured

Lola LaCross, a 10-year-old Yorkie mix, was viciously bitten by a much larger dog—and now she’s struggling to walk. Her back leg was badly hurt in the attack, and while x-rays ruled out broken bones, her vet suspects torn ligaments.

Three and a half weeks later, Lola still can’t put weight on her leg and is wearing a splint. Without imaging and possible surgery, she may never fully recover.

Lola’s family—Alyssa and Nicholas—are heartbroken. This is her first major injury since being rescued. Lola showed up in a box on Alyssa’s doorstep in 2016, likely abandoned at the vet clinic next door. Matted and sore, she was clearly neglected. Alyssa tried to rehome her, but she and Nicholas quickly fell in love. Lola became part of the family, a sister to their other rescue Suki—who sadly passed away last year from an autoimmune disorder.

The recent attack was sudden and terrifying. A friend’s girlfriend visited with a micro bulldog. At first, the dogs were kept apart, but the bulldog broke loose and lunged at Lola. Nicholas had to physically pry the dog off with his bare hands, getting bitten in the process. They rushed Lola to MASH emergency hospital on Santa Monica Blvd but couldn’t afford the full treatment.

So far, they’ve spent $300 out-of-pocket, but they’re stuck. The bulldog’s owner vanished and isn’t responding. Alyssa and Nicholas both work hard—Alyssa is a receptionist and social media assistant at a local spa, and Nicholas, an art handler, just left his job and is actively looking for work. Their pet insurance will cover 80% of approved costs, but has a $3000 limit and has already been used for some care, so there is not that much still available and Lola needs help to get fully funded for surgery.

With your help, Lola can get the care she needs to walk again without pain. All donations go directly to Lola’s treatment and will be paid only to the veterinarian. Full medical report is HERE.
