About the Campaign

Found in a box Sunday night,

She has serious injuries!

Faith Easdale of Dream Fetchers Project Rescue named her Hope. Faith got a call that someone found a box on the sidewalk in Rialto, CA (east of Los Angeles). In the box was a little dog, about 8-10 pounds, injured with dirty blanket.

Faith rushed out to get her at about 6pm, Sunday December 5th. The little dog had labored breathing and Faith could see air coming out of her chest and neck when she breathed. Faith rushed her to Grand Terrance Emergency.

There the doctor reports Hope has serious injuries. A coyote attacked her, grabbing her from the back of the neck and shaking her. Hope has a wound on the top of her head going into her nasal area. She has neck damage. She has wounds to her throat. She has a perforated lung, with pockets of air in her lungs, and her diaphragm is displaced. This is all from the coyote attack. In addition, an x-ray reveled a pellet embedded in her side. At some point someone shot her with a pellet/bb gun. Who knows what other abuse she may have suffered.

X-ray of her neck:

X-ray showing the pellet (the small very solid object at the edge of her ribs):

Treatment:

She is stabilized and not in shock. The doctor is pumping her full of anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling everywhere, but especially in the neck, throat and lungs. She is on pain medications of course. Open wounds have been cleaned, and are being stitched shut. At the moment surgery is not an option, though she may need some procedures later.

For now we expect the overnight emergency care to be about $1000.00. On Monday she will be transported to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, CA. We are making a minimum guess that her stay at Camino will be about $500.00, but it may end up being substantially more if surgery is both needed and possible, so the fundraising request may change from the current $1500.00

UPDATE: She is now at Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine. Costs so far at $504, with about $115 daily for hospitalization. The vet is guessing her bill will be about $1500 there.

All donations are for Hope’s care with Dream Fetchers Project Rescue and will be paid in full, 100% of what you donate, to them. If you can help Little Hope in any amount from $3.00 on up, please make a donation today. Thank you!!

Vet estimate for initial care (this will increase):

We have nothing in this world without Hope. Hope in humanity, hope in love, and hope that all creatures can survive and feel safe, wanted and love on this earth. This is why I am donating to this precious girl’s recovery, because Hope is what we need, and now she needs us.

Hoping the gunshot was from someone trying to help by scaring away the coyote and not a deliberate act.
Appreciate all the work you do!
