About the Campaign

Help a Rescue Kitty Get Spayed.

Lilly Boo is a 3-year-old mixed-breed cat who needs to be spayed at the Oregon Humane Society. Her appointment is scheduled for Feb. 3, and her family is doing everything they can to make sure she gets there and gets the care she needs.

James and his wife, Amber, found Lilly Boo as a tiny, dirty kitten while they were walking their neighborhood during yard sales in late summer 2022. Amber spotted her first—curled up under a dog statue, alone and clearly not being cared for. James asked the people at the sale if the kitten belonged to them. They said they were planning to leave her behind while they sold everything and moved. James tucked the kitten into his backpack, brought her home, and Lilly Boo has been part of their family ever since.

Lilly Boo fit right in. She gets along with the household’s other cat and three dogs, and she’s been a bright spot in a home that’s been through a lot. But there’s one important thing she still needs: to be spayed.

James and Amber have tried repeatedly to get Lilly Boo in for a spay, checking for openings and waiting for an appointment slot. Now that they finally have one, the remaining problem is cost. James is currently unable to work and is fighting to receive disability while dealing with serious mental health challenges. Amber can’t work either due to ongoing fainting spells that still don’t have clear answers. They aren’t receiving disability benefits yet, and they’re relying on SNAP for food. A local organization—Cascadia Behavioral Health—is paying their rent right now, and without that help, they would be homeless.

Spaying is a crucial part of keeping Lilly Boo healthy and preventing emergencies down the road. It also prevents accidental litters and helps cats live longer, safer lives. James and Amber rescued Lilly Boo when no one else was going to—now they’re asking for help to do the responsible next step for her care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
