About the Campaign
Lexy is a 15-year-old female Miniature Pinscher mix who has not eaten on her own since Thursday night. She would not get up, showed no interest in food, and her owner Alyson has been keeping her going by liquefying her food with chicken broth and force feeding her.
Alyson took her to All Valley Pet Hospital in Santa Maria on Friday. The vet wants bloodwork, x-rays, and a urinalysis to find the cause, plus an appetite stimulant. The estimate was $1,331. Alyson could only cover the $115 exam and pain medication.
Without tests there is no way to know whether this is dental pain, kidney or liver trouble, or something else. In a dog her age, a sudden refusal to eat is a warning sign that needs answering fast, since older dogs decline quickly when they stop taking in food and water. Lexy has perked up a little today on the pain medication, which suggests the condition may be treatable. It could be a number of fairly simple to treat issues, if properly diagnosed.
Alyson adopted Lexy from a rescue foster when she was about three months old. When Alyson went to see her, the puppy was covered in fleas and the situation was bad enough that she decided to take her that day. Lexy has been with her ever since, nearly 15 years. She shares the house with Zoey, a 5-year-old blue Min Pin.
Lexy and Zoey earlier this year when Lexy was feeling better:
Alyson is not working and has a 2-year-old child. She gets by on child support from her ex-husband and receives no government assistance. She applied for both Care Credit and Scratchpay and was declined by both. She spent what she had on the exam, and there is nothing for the tests.
Donations will cover Lexy’s bloodwork, x-rays, urinalysis, appetite stimulant, and whatever treatment the results point to, including a dental cleaning and extractions if her teeth turn out to be the cause. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.

Hoping Lexy will get the necessary donations to help with her medical needs.
