About the Campaign
Hit by a car…
…found frozen against the curb…
…got soaked from the sprinklers!
Rushed to the vet by a good samaritan! He couldn’t walk at first, but today (Thursday, August 16th) he got out of the vet and went to foster care. He is only about 2 years old, and only 6.8 pounds! He looks older due to white markings on his face, but he is quite young!
Poor little guy, named Leo now, is able to stand, but still has a long way to go in recovery. When initially admitted to the vet his pupils were dilated unevenly, and his eyes rolled out of sync. This is probably due to a concussion. Today he is better. Dilation of pupils is now normal. Eyes move in sync.
Local rescuer and animal welfare advocate Kimberly Saxelby helped with getting him to the vet and treated, and now is foster!
Below is the original post from August 14:
He’s at the vet with brain swelling, concussion.
Little Leo, an 8lb Chi-Terrier mix of about 2 years, was found pressed against the curb on a residential street in West Covina, CA, Monday night (August 13th). He was soaking wet and frozen in fear and pain, but the lady who found him rushed him to Inland Valley Emergency!
We will have more photos and video from Wednesday (August 15th). The vet was super busy today and the only photo we had a chance to get at the vet is here. He has swelling in the brain, a concussion, but surprisingly no broken bones.
When admitted his eyes were rolling in separate directions and his pupils were dilated at different sizes, all clear signs of neurological trauma. Today his eyes move together, the pupils are almost the same size, and he did eat on his own. He is on a series of medications as you can see in his vet docs below, including meds to help his nausea. The vet reports steady improvement.
All donations are only for Leo, and are only paid to his vet. Please help share his story!
