About the Campaign

Insurance should have covered it!

But Leo’s policy had unexpected fine print, and he does not have enough to cover the life saving surgery that he needs!

Leo is the perfect family boy and a very good dog! He welcomed Kalista’s new born daughter into the home, and now that she is two they are best friends.

He is an active and happy boy, but a few months ago when Kalista came home from work he seemed to be slightly limping. In fact the limp was so subtle she couldn’t really get a video that showed it, to show to the veterinarian. The first vet didn’t think anything was wrong.

But in May Kalista could feel a bump in that leg, and Leo went back to the vet. This time they did more tests, and Leo had insurance so it was all covered! An MRI, all of it. Which was great because they found out it was cancer and they caught it early. But that is when Kalista found out there was some fine print she was unaware of: the insurance only covered a maximum of $10,000 per health event. Leo’s entire cancer treatment, from diagnosis, to surgery to any follow up was only covered to $10,000.

Leo already had an MRI, and other tests, and half that amount plus some more was gone. His family set up a GoFundMe, but only a few friends donated. Fortunately Leo found this platform, where all donations are paid only to the vet, so everyone can donate to help Leo, knowing their donation will go ONLY to Leo and be paid to his surgeon directly!

Please help Leo:

Below is the estimate for surgery, which the doctor has said to expect to be on the high end. Donations here will cover the gap the family cannot afford to get Leo this surgery ASAP, hopefully this week! With this cancer speed is key. Please click on the estimate to enlarge:
