About the Campaign

Koda just found a home!

Koda was unwanted. A breeder had an accidental litter, and a little set of puppies that were mixed. Most of them did get sold off cheap, but Koda didn’t and was getting too old for the breeder. Fortunately Deserey found him, and adopted him about a month ago!

Maybe because he was new to the house and still nervous, but who knows for sure, somehow Koda got nervous and managed to get out on the second floor balcony and jumped off! Poor guy broke his leg landing on the concrete below.

Deserey was at work, and found out he was injured at the animal shelter! She left work and went and got Koda and took him to the emergency hospital. There he got x-rayed, and a cast and some pain medications. Oh, and a referral to an orthopedic surgeon out of town. The surgeon reviewed the records and x-rays and came back with a verbal estimate of about $4000-6000 for Koda.

The balcony wall is quite high, and he shouldn’t have been able to jump over it… but where there is a will, there is a way. And a broken leg! Deserey has some credit available and can contribute around $1000 or so to his surgery, but she does not have all that is needed. At Christmas her cat got very ill, and ran up a vet bill of nearly $5000 and she used all her funds, and most of her Care-Credit account. She set up a GoFundMe, but only got one donation, so we and Koda are hoping donations will come in here!

As always, donations are only for the animal in need (in this case Koda), and paid ONLY to the veterinarian when the surgery is performed. As you can see from the angle of the break in this photo from the ER, Koda has a complete fracture! Combined with his young age, and that he is still growing, and orthopedic surgery is necessary and urgent!
