About the Campaign

Cancer Treatment

Koda, an affectionate 8-year-old Boxer mix, is facing an uphill battle against stage 3 mammary gland carcinoma. In late April, she underwent surgery to remove a large tumor and two mammary glands. The surgery was successful in removing the visible cancer, but her oncologist has now recommended follow-up chemotherapy to give Koda the best chance of long-term survival.

Her owners, Carman and Jason, have already depleted their savings to pay for the surgery. They are now struggling to cover the cost of the next critical phase of Koda’s treatment—chemotherapy—while also managing other financial strains, including medical debt and household bills.

A month ago they started a GoFundMe, based on advice from friends, but have only raised a couple hundred dollars. Hopefully this guaranteed fundraiser, with no fees, and tax deductible donations, will motivate people to help Koda, knowing their donation is paid only to the vet directly.

Koda is more than just a family pet. When Carman and Jason first met her through a foster program, she immediately connected with Jason, who battles severe depression. Over time, Koda has become an extraordinary emotional support dog—she instinctively knows when Jason needs her, even learning to perform deep pressure therapy to help calm him during difficult moments.

Koda’s cancer is treatable, but without chemotherapy, the risk of it returning and spreading is very high. With your support, Koda can continue to be the loyal companion and healer her family depends on. One chemo session bill is below, click to enlarge:
