About the Campaign

Karma is a 6-year-old female Doberman with a growing mass on her face that veterinarians say is more than a simple skin tag. What started as a small pimple has slowly enlarged and recently worsened, becoming harder, bigger, and even opening and bleeding. Karma needs the growth surgically removed and tested so her family can understand what it is and prevent it from becoming more serious.

Jessica first noticed the spot around last March, around the same time her husband passed away. At first it seemed small and easy to ignore. But over time it continued to grow, and in the last few weeks it changed quickly. Jessica took Karma to the vet about two weeks ago and was given a cream to apply, but the growth has not improved—instead it has gotten larger and more concerning. Now it’s at a point where it’s visibly bothering her and bleeding at times.

Karma has been Jessica’s companion since September 2020. Jessica was feeling lonely after her kids had moved out and wanted emotional support and company. A friend told her about a litter of Doberman puppies. There was one female left, the runt, and nobody wanted her. Jessica took her home at about eight weeks old. Karma ended up bonding strongly with Jessica’s husband (which Jessica jokes about), but Karma has remained a constant in Jessica’s life and especially after her husband’s death.

Karma the puppy:

Jessica has tried to do the responsible thing and apply for help, but she was declined for CareCredit and other loans, only managing to get a small loan of a couple hundred dollars—enough to cover a vet visit, not a surgery. She is currently going through an eviction situation and her income changed drastically after losing her husband. Jessica is 37, and she had been paid by the state as her husband’s caregiver. That caregiving income is now gone, and she’s trying to keep her life stable while also trying to help Karma.

This fundraiser is for a clear, urgent goal: get Karma’s facial mass removed and sent for testing so she can heal and Jessica can have real answers. Growths like this can worsen quickly, become infected when they open, and are much harder to manage the longer they’re left untreated.

Donations will help cover Karma’s surgical removal and pathology testing, along with related veterinary care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:

I hope we can raise enough money to help sweet Karma. Why it costs SO much money to remove the mass and test it is beyond me. Let’s get it done! NOW!
