Urgent Dental Surgery

Kahlo, an 11-year-old Chihuahua, has developed a painful tooth problem that needs surgery under anesthesia. Infected teeth can lead to heart disease, and only get worse without treatment.

He went to a nonprofit mobile clinic, but the vet never showed that day. Twice he’s made the trip to a low-cost clinic, only to be turned away because they were overwhelmed with cases. With no car, just getting there is a major challenge.

Kahlo’s life has already been full of hardship and survival. She and Samuel are both survivors of the Camp Fire. Samuel himself has endured Hurricane Ian, caring for his elderly parents when their community lost power and water for weeks. Through all of this, Samuel has continued working wherever he can, and he’s still paying off moving expenses from relocating to the Bay Area to escape the fires.

Kahlo came to Samuel through a dying friend’s wife, who asked him to take her in. At first, her spouse promised to cover vet care, but he lost communication with her, and assumes she is not available anymore as she was elderly. He didn’t hesitate and Kahlo became part of his rescue family, alongside his other Chihuahuas, Gus and Buster. All are rescues saved from abuse or neglect.

Kahlo is a sweet, resilient girl, and with the dental surgery she needs, she can stay comfortable and happy in her senior years. We do not have a specific estimate, but we are working on getting vet care and know what the cost will be, and all donations are paid only to the vet. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
