About the Campaign
Justice has a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament), caused by sudden twisting movement. This two year old pup now needs help raising money for her TPLO surgery. TPLO is Tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy, this surgery will stabilize the joint after the ACL ligament has been torn. The idea behind this surgery is to change the dynamics on the knee making the torn ligament irrelevant to stabilizing the knee. Here is a link that explains the surgery in more depth: https://www.topdoghealth.com/library/orthopedic-surgery/articles-surgery/tibial-plateau-leveling-osteotomy-tplo/
How it happened
On days the gardeners come to the house the dogs come inside. Dogs still want to play even if they are inside. Justice and her brother were playing inside and Christina, the pet parent, assumes Justice’s leg got twisted under the bedroom door while skidding. After this incident Justice wasn’t putting any pressure on her leg. Christina waited a few weeks to see if the injury would heal on its own, she was thinking maybe it was a strain… things didn’t get better so she took Justice in for a x-ray. The ACL has a straight clean tear. Christina was told that muscular dogs have a higher chance of tearing ligaments.
Christina rescued Justice from the Pomona shelter. Justice has fought through kennel cough and double pneumonia now is walking on three legs. Her good back leg is growing so large that it isn’t going to be able to hold up her body much longer. Her muscles in her bad leg are atrophied. Justice is a two year old pup that can no longer play. She deserves to be able to play.
Set up for success
This surgery has a great success rate. Christina went to two doctors to get an estimate to get the best price. Her current rate was $1,000 cheaper than the first clinic. The surgeon says it’s better to do it soon rather than due to the good leg compensating for the bad leg and the bad leg loosing the muscle.
Vet’s TPLO surgery
Christina started a gofundme page for Justice were she raised $190. Let’s help her get Justice’s campaign funded!
Every donation is tax deductible. 100% of donations are paid directly to the vet.
