About the Campaign
Broken jaw!
Sorry this is a bit graphic, and the dog is safe now, but we wanted to communicate the situation clearly.
UPDATE January 27th BELOW
Desert Dog Project got a call today. A woman in Hesperia had found this little poodle in the dirt on the side of the road. A volunteer rushed down and got him, and ended up cover in blood and with blood in her car, rushing him to Ark Animal Hospital.
The dog does not have any other noticeable injuries, so we doubt he was hit by a car. If hit by a car, he would surely have other injuries and indications. Based on it only being his jaw, and it being so severe, we think someone must have hit him with an object. But of course, we do not know for sure. The vet named him Johnny.
Desert Dog Project had Johnny go immediately into surgery, fortunately a surgeon who can do this work was there on duty! An unexpected expense, the rescue needs help paying for this surgery. All donations are for Johnny only, and will be paid to Desert Dog Project a 501c3 organization.
Once stable the rescue will find Johnny a foster home to recover in, while looking for a good home to adopt him!

I have a dog that’s 14 and needs constant medical attention for hip dysplasia so I know vet bills can get horrendous. I hope this help ease a little pain for owner and doggo.

May Johnny “carry his heart through the world liker a life-giving sun”. Often, we wonder will humankind ever stop hurting animals – and then comes yet another dog along and you have to have faith that he will forgive us.
Thank you, Pat, and everyone being involved in this rescue- especially the person who found him and was not indifferent to his fate and pain.

I can not give much, but I hope the donation reaches the goal, and he gets the surgery done.
