About the Campaign

JD the dog and his best friend

Poor guy dislocated his hip jumping to see his friend!

JD has a dog best friend that lives next door: Daril. JD’s dad says these two dogs will jump back and forth over the fence to play. Some days they are on JD’s side other days, JD will hope over to the other side to play. This has been going on for years. On Christmas Eve, Daril let JD out to potty and when JD came back in he was limping.

Diagnosis:

Dislocated Hip

The vet says FHO surgery is needed to fix his dislocation. Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) -“- is the surgical removal of the head and neck of the femur. In simpler terms, it is the removal of the “ball” part of the ball-and-socket that makes up the hip joint. This way, the bones of the joint are no longer in contact, which eliminates the pain that is caused by the abnormal contact of the bones in a dog with hip dysplasia or severe osteoarthritis. ” – TOP DOG HEALTH

XRAY OF JD’s HIP

A few days after this incident, Daril’s house caught fire. During the fire Daril broke his toe causing him to not be able to work. It has been a rough few weeks for Daril, he is asking for help to pay for the FHO surgery.

Daril’s good friend gets a puppy

After a few weeks the mother of Daril’s friend called Daril and asked if he wanted the puppy, she said she didn’t want to take care of her daughters puppy. Daril at 22 was a responsible adult and the mom knew he would be a good dog dad. JD is now 27 and taking the best care of him for the last five years.
