About the Campaign

This is Hugo

He has a painful dental infection, and needs surgery to correct it and remove some teeth.

Hugo is a senior sweetheart now, at 14 years-old, but his owner Cynthia adopted him when he was just 2 years-old after he was found stray by a neighbor. Hugo has had dental surgery before, about 4 years ago, but problems have resurfaced now.

Financial situation

Hugo’s owner has recently run into financial difficulties. Cynthia was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, and spent three years fighting it, with multiple surgeries. She is cancer free now, but has a number of health difficulties from her treatment. Cynthia had been doing some work from home, with her health condition she cannot go out during COVID as she is at high risk, but it has been to get anything full-time.

Cynthia has two dogs, her other dog is Chou-Chou and also has a fundraiser here. Hugo had to have eye surgery last year, and with her health and job issues that was the last of her available money. All donations here are for Hugo and Chou-Chou and will only be paid directly to the vet when surgery is performed! At Free Animal Doctor your donation always is paid only to the vet! Can you help Hugo today?

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped out. Hugo and Chou Chou had their surgeries yesterday, and I picked them up at 10 pm!
Chou Chou had 16 teeth removed and Hugo had 11 teeth removed.
Chou Chou was walking wildly fast and had just come out of sedation but seemed amped and agitated, Hugo was a limp and bloody noodle.
Chou Chou ate ravenously when we got home, and Hugo wouldn’t touch any food. He was not allowed any food before going to the vet yesterday, so hopefully he eats something today.
They have both slept soundly through the night, and will need lots of care, as quite a bit of blood is involved post-surgery.
I am so VERY grateful to the friends and strangers who helped. This burden of not being able to afford proper care for my dogs has weighed heavily, and now there are tears in my eyes writing this. The thought that there is so much kindness in this world that people I don’t even know would help so much for my beloved pups! I would like to write each of you handwritten thank you notes. If you wish to receive a note in the mail, you can e-mail me at: cynthia.amps@gmail.com, and I will send you an old-fashioned note. I am from the era of handwriting and stationary.
