About the Campaign
Dislocated Hip.
Huera has a dislocated hip. She needs a surgery called FHO to fix it. Until then, she’s on pain pills.
Some of you may remember Huera from her first fundraiser. We raised money to get her evaluated by a doctor. Now we have the diagnosis and this is the next step.
Carlos found Huera on Thanksgiving. She was limping on a street in Glendale, near the Burbank airport. She had a pink collar but no name, no chip. Security told Carlos someone had driven by and just left her there. She came right up to him. She was looking for help, but most people were intimidated by her (she’s a Pitbull).
Carlos tried to find her a home three times. Each time, people couldn’t handle her because of the injuries. A vet told him to put her to sleep or take her to the pound. Carlos refused. He registered her. He got her a rabies shot. He tells us that now she is family!
And she is. Huera is so good with Carlos’s kids. She plays tag with them. She’s well mannered, listens, gets along with their cat. She’s only two years old and still tears up toys sometimes, but she’s a very good dog.
Carlos works in general construction. His partner Nancy is a sterile technician. They have five kids total, three living with them: Alexis is 15, Darla is 10, Issiah is 7. The holidays were slow for construction work. They don’t have a lot of money to spend all at once.
The good news is that this FHO surgery doesn’t require a specialist and has a great success rate. The doctor thinks Huera may also have a knee issue, but it might resolve on its own once the hip is fixed. They won’t know until after surgery. But the major problem is the hip, and this surgery will solve it.
All donations are specifically for Huera and paid directly to the veterinarian for her surgery. If you can help this dog who was abandoned on the street and finally found a family that wouldn’t give up on her, please consider donating today. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
