About the Campaign
Brought in to the shelter with this injury!
Shelter staff asked for help, and now the rescuer’s need donations.
Amputation required, and there are some complications.
He was brought in to the animal shelter in Bakersfield, CA in this condition. Unfortunately we do not know more than that. Some of the shelter staff say they think he was injured in a dog fight or animal attack, and then chewed the rest of the flesh off of his bone.
This video shows a graphic injury:
But, when we look at the injury, it looks to “perfect” to us, and we wonder if a person did this, or did part of this to him. It’s a weird one. A graphic picture that clearly shows his leg wound is at the bottom of this post, scroll down to see it.
He was transported from Bakersfield to Irvine August 29th, arriving at Camino Vet Hospital in the evening.
The transporter had to bandage him as the shelter provided no bandaging or care. UPDATE: We received the wrong information. In fact Bakersfield animal shelter provided the bandaging AND they gave Hero pain medications and other medicinal treatment. We apologize to Bakersfield animal shelter for this error! We will have much more detailed information later on Friday the 30th, once the rescue gets to the vet and is able to take photos and consult with the doctor in detail.
We now have the official estimate for Hero’s surgery, the high end is over $2100.00, so we have changed his funding goal to this amount:
