About the Campaign

Benzi is an adorable, 11 year old, Schnoodle who is going through a pretty ruff time. Unfortunately, this happy, playful, lovable little guy was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease about 3 years ago. An incurable condition, Cushing’s can be controlled with constant medication and retests. Benzi later developed Diabetes that was discovered in June of this year.

Benzi’s Diabetes has taken his sight. This course of action was expected by veterinarians. However, within less than two weeks, Benzi’s sight was completely gone. Now, this poor boy has to figure out how to live his life in the dark. BUT it doesn’t have to be this way for Benzi. By donating, you can help Benzi get the cataract surgery (in both eyes) he needs. He has a 97%-98% chance of success! The surgery will consist of removing the cataracts and replacing them with a plastic lens (meaning they should never come back).

Benzi’s owner, Dionne, is doing everything she can to help Benzi acclimate to his current situation.Because she’s right by his side 24/7, Benzi is adjusting smoother than most dogs. Dionne bought Benzi from a breeder at just 6 weeks. She was looking for a companion and Benzi was the best companion she could ever wish for. They’ve spent their lives together, Benzi is like her baby. Seeing him confused and depressed just brings tears to her eyes.

Although she’s doing everything in her power to keep Benzi comfortable, Dionne cannot afford surgery at this time. With Benzi’s current medical costs and on going medical treatment, gathering money for surgery has become quite difficult. So, she’s come to us at Free Animal Doctor in need of the extra help. It’s only Dionne and Benzi depending on each other and right now, as Benzi is leaning on Dionne for 100% support, she’s fighting with all the tools she has to help him see again.

As of now, Benzi is taking his Cushing’s medication, insulin, and has medication for his eyes everyday right up until surgery. The surgery will be done at Animal Eye Clinic in Texas on Oct. 2nd, 2018. We have about  1 month to raise as much as we can for this sweet little guy.
