About the Campaign

Good girl, bad knee!

Hazel Ann cannot run like she used to, staying home now drugged up on pain medications, she is getting depressed.

Jasmine adopted Hazel Ann in 2019 when she was just a four-month-old puppy weighing a mere 14 pounds (now over 50lbs!), severely underweight. This is her at the shelter:

Hazel Ann came from the Memphis Animal Shelter, where Jasmine found her while a friend was looking at another dog. As a first-generation Nigerian, Jasmine had always wanted a dog, but her father had always said no. Unfortunately, Jasmine’s father passed away just a few months after she adopted Hazel Ann. This experience further motivated Jasmine to adopt a dog and be part of the solution for neglected animals.

Recently, while pet-sitting a coworker’s dog, Hazel Ann and the other dog, Kas, were playing and went on a walk. Jasmine noticed Hazel Ann limping afterward. Initially thinking it might just be a sprain, she kept a close watch. However, after days of continued limping, she made a vet appointment. After thorough examinations and x-rays, it was discovered that Hazel Ann has a partially torn CCL (Cranial Cruciate Ligament). The vet recommended TPLO surgery due to Hazel Ann’s young age and the potential for the tear to worsen without intervention.

Hazel used to be very active!

Jasmine, who has faced financial challenges since her father passed away, works at a public-funded Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, earning around $3,000 a month. With no family financial support and student loans to repay, she has already spent over $500 on Hazel Ann’s initial treatments and has managed to save some money for the surgery, but it’s not enough to cover the total cost.

Hazel Ann has been through so much, and Jasmine has always been there for her. But now, they need a community of dog lovers to step in and help them overcome this hurdle. All donations for Hazel Ann’s surgery will be paid directly to the vet. With your support, Hazel Ann can get the TPLO surgery she needs to live a happy, pain-free life.

Let’s get Hazel back out there with her friends!

Your generosity can make a significant difference. Please consider donating to Hazel Ann’s surgery fund. Below is a copy of the estimate for Hazel Ann’s surgery; click to enlarge it. Thank you for your kindness and support!
