About the Campaign

Harley is a 5-year-old female French Bulldog with a tumor near her rear end that has started bleeding. Kristen first noticed something was wrong about a month ago. At first, she thought Harley might be in heat, but then the mass became more visible and kept bleeding, so she got Harley to the vet.

The vet could not tell just by looking whether the tumor is cancerous. Harley needs surgery to remove the mass, and if Kristen can afford it, the tissue should be sent out for testing so they know exactly what it is and what follow-up care may be needed.

Harley came into Kristen’s family two years ago, when a friend gave her to them for Kristen’s son, Isaiah. Kristen had not been looking for a dog, but a dog had been recommended for Isaiah, who is autistic, and someone who heard about it offered Harley to see if she might help. Within a week, Kristen says Isaiah was completely different.

Harley became Isaiah’s unofficial emotional support dog. Whenever he is home, she is with him. Even now, with the tumor bleeding and making things difficult, Isaiah still wants to be close to Harley because she is his comfort and his companion.

The problem is money. Kristen works about 30 hours a week in accounts receivable, but she cannot work more because she cares for Isaiah and her two younger daughters, Alexia and Joy. She is raising all three children on her own, with no child support and no family nearby. Rent is difficult, and sometimes other parents from school help with meals and school supplies.

Kristen is also trying to keep an older car running with nearly 200,000 miles on it, after recently paying for an AC compressor and still needing transmission work she cannot afford. Donations will help cover Harley’s tumor removal, anesthesia, medications, biopsy if possible, and follow-up care so this beloved little dog can heal and stay with the boy who depends on her! All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
