About the Campaign

Constipated, Hernia!

Harley is a 14-year-old, 8-pound Maltipoo who is struggling to do something as basic as going to the bathroom. His vet has diagnosed a hernia, and without proper treatment, Harley’s condition could become life-threatening.

Harley has been having trouble pooping for months. At first, it seemed to come and go, but by late summer Monica noticed he was straining every time, clearly uncomfortable and sometimes unable to pass stool at all. She took him to the vet on October 10 and again after that, determined to find out what was wrong and not just “wait and see” with a senior this fragile.

Bloodwork has already been done, and the vet has told Monica that Harley has a hernia that’s interfering with his ability to pass stool normally. Left untreated, this kind of problem can become an emergency—especially in a 14-year-old, 8-pound dog. Harley needs more care now, including imaging, treatment, and likely surgery to correct the hernia and give him comfortable, safe bowel movements again.

Harley didn’t start out as Monica’s dog. He originally belonged to a close friend who suffered a serious medical emergency and could no longer care for him and his companion dog, Huey. Monica stepped in and took responsibility for their care in 2023 so they wouldn’t end up unwanted or in a shelter. Now she’s trying to do right by Harley again, this time by making sure he gets the medical help he needs.

Monica has gotten Harley to the vet twice and paid for his bloodwork. She just doesn’t have the funds to move forward with the next steps. That’s where we’re hoping kind people will step in for this little senior who still has love and life left to enjoy. Your donation will go directly toward Harley’s ongoing veterinary care—imaging, treatment, and the hernia repair he likely needs so he can finally poop without pain.
