About the Campaign
He’s only 5 years-old
Diagnosed with a Brain Tumor
Halo was rescued as a stray in 2017 by Kellie. On Christmas day, 2020, he had a series of seizures and she took him to the emergency vet. She spent over $2000 on his emergency care and then another $2100 a week later on an MRI. Then they went to a cancer specialist (Veterinary Cancer Group), and on January 13th Halo was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and given a treatment plan costing $10,800.
Kellie has raised some money on her own and has some funds still available, so although she has already spent over $4000, she has about $5200 available, thus we are hope to raise the remaining $5600 Halo needs for his full course of treatment.
Halo’s story with Kellie, in Kellie’s words:
Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend in 2017 I was sitting in the desert, waking up with a cup of coffee and reflecting on what a great trip we’d all had. Out of the bushes appeared a four legged angel who walked up to me, laid his head on my lap and looked up at me with the saddest little eyes. He was skinny, banged up and was one gigantic dreadlock.
I didn’t want a dog but I realized God had kept all my friends and family safe riding in the desert, so taking care of this creature of his was the least I could do. While still in the desert I had posted trying to find his owners and he went viral! The response I got from hundreds, if not thousands, was “You’re his angel!” and my response was, “Okay, he can be my Halo!” My intention was to take him to the vet to get him cleaned up and checked out, and find this boy a furever home! I don’t think it was but a day or two before I realized this dog was like no other, and God had sent him to ME for a reason.
He is my baby and he goes everywhere with me. The best part of 2020 was hitting the road to UT, MT, WY and ID with my best friend! We stayed in UT for a month with friends and took a few road trips in between to Idaho Falls, Bryce Canyon and Yellowstone. He’s the best little road dawg! He loves car rides and meeting new people! He loves life and everyone in it!
Halo and Phyllis:
Kellie’s neighbor Phyllis is 92 years-old. She is an independent lady, and still drives herself… but with COVID she has to remain home, and isolated due to the risk to her health. But Kellie and Phyllis come over almost everyday to talk and then go for a walk around the neighborhood! Why? Because Halo is a GOOD BOY!! Here is video of them:
Kellie has spent thousands already, and has about $5000 more available, but this treatment is expensive. Further, she had surgery for a long time injury, and had to quit work for a while, and her mother was also ill and recently passed away, which cost her a substantial amount of money. She is willing, and has, spent a lot of money already, but she just does not have the total needed to get Halo his full treatment course.
Veterinary Cancer Group is a well respected cancer treatment clinic, and they give Halo a positive prognosis. Of course nothing can be know for sure, but the doctor is confident treatment will give Halo at least 3 more years of life and hopefully much longer.
Halo has a dedicated owner who will take care of him through this treatment, he is young, and he makes a positive contribution to his community. Halo deserves his chance, and we hope you will consider making a donation to his cancer treatment! Thank you, and WOOOF!!!!
