Gus is a four-year-old dog

facing a battle with cancer

Gus’s journey began in the summer of 2022, when his owner Shiri first noticed a growth on her beloved companion. With the help of Holly Green who volunteers with us, Shiri connected with FAD and closely monitored the growth. By December, it had become necessary to remove the tumor. Unfortunately, the tests revealed that the tumor was cancerous.

The next step was to have Gus’s cancer staged by an oncologist, as this particular cancer has a high likelihood of spreading. After an initial consultation, the oncologist recommended six stages of chemotherapy. However, the cost of treatment is substantial, and Shiri is struggling to cover the expenses.

Shiri lost her job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was unemployed for about a year. Although she has recently found work, her new position comes with a significant pay cut. To make matters worse, she recently filed for bankruptcy. The $250 spent on the consultation has already strained her finances, and she has no means to pay for Gus’s further treatment.
