About the Campaign

Cooking with Kitty!

Gizmo was born to a feral mom eight years ago. Aubrey adopted her, and domesticated her. And since then Gizmo has been a good kitty, even if she gets in the pots and pans sometimes!

Over a year ago Gizmo stopped eating her dry food. Cats like to eat, this is a bad sign. So they went to the vet and the diagnosis was Stomatitis. This is an auto-immune condition that cats get, and though it effects the whole body with the immune system turning against the body, the biggest symptoms are usually in the mouth.

Gums become inflamed, as if they are infected. The cat will drool. It is very painful, and it becomes hard to eat. The condition is not well understood, but complete removal of all teeth usually reverses it and is a successful treatment. But before going this far, the vet wanted to try treatment with medications. So Gizmo got a series of shots, and some pills.

This did improve her condition for a while, but in the last couple of months it has gotten worse again, and the doctor now says that the teeth have to be removed. Problem is that Aubrey now has some difficulties herself, with a disabled husband and other hardships. They live in a trailer they rent for a small fee in a back yard, and do not have any credit. She cannot afford the surgery that Gizmo desperately needs. All donations here are just for Gizmo to get her mouth fixed, and end this Stomatitis! The estimate is below, you can click to enlarge:
