Needs Surgery to Relieve Constant Pain

Gizmo, a 9-year-old Miniature Aussie, has been Daisy’s shadow ever since her husband Nicholas picked him from a Facebook litter back in 2016. He walked right up to them, and they knew he was meant to be part of the family. Since then, he’s been loyal, playful: he’s been part of the family ever since.

About six months ago, after returning home from a kennel stay, Gizmo started struggling to poop. It quickly got worse—impactions, pain, and straining became constant. Vet visits confirmed the worst: stress and chronic pressure had contributed to the development of an abnormal anal cavity, along with a perineal hernia and a swollen prostate.

These issues are causing chronic impaction and immense discomfort. The vet has recommended a three-part surgery to relieve Gizmo’s suffering: perineal hernia repair, neutering (to reduce the prostate size), and corrective surgery on the malformed tissue. These procedures need to be done together to give Gizmo the best outcome.

Daisy and her family have done everything possible to care for Gizmo. Over the past six months, they’ve maxed out their Care Credit and emptied their savings trying to keep him comfortable, and quite literally have no more money. Daisy was recently laid off from her tech job, and Nicholas is now the only one working. With a 6-year-old daughter and Daisy also managing autoimmune health issues, things have become overwhelming—emotionally and financially.

Despite it all, they’re determined to get Gizmo the surgery he needs to live comfortably again. Donations go directly to Gizmo’s care and only to the veterinarian. This loving boy still has so much life left in him—and he’s counting on us! Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
