About the Campaign

Bitten by a puppy,

her eye “popped out”!

Her name is “Girl Dog” and she was playing with a German Shepard puppy the family was fostering. The puppy snapped at her, and bad luck: it hit her eye just right and cut it and cause it to pop out.

Her owner, Jenny, took her to the ER vet immediately Saturday night (September 17th) but could not afford the surgery they wanted to do, remove the eye. So they just gave her a few days of pain medication, the fairly standard Gabapentin, and sent her home!

Jenny got a hold of us Monday and we have been scrambling to find another vet that will do the procedure at a lower price. It is called enucleation, removal of the eye. It is pretty obvious the eye is damaged, and this is the best option.

Girl Dog got her name because she was also a foster 8 years ago. She was found stray on the streets, so thickly matted that she had to be anesthetized to be shaved. At first Jenny’s plan was just to foster her until a rescue or adopter could be found, so she was just calling her “girl dog, come here” and stuff like that… but her son fell in love with Girl Dog, and they ended up keeping her and the name!

Speaking of, Jenny’s son is disabled and she is a full-time care giver for him. She barely had the $260 that it cost to get in the ER, and does not have the money nor the credit for the enucleation surgery. We are raising money based on the estimate, but are also working with Jenny to find a lower cost vet and will update as we get more info. She is up in Modesto, California, small city with limited vet options.

All donations are specifically for Girl-Dog, and for her surgery. We hold the donations and will pay them only to the vet for enucleation surgery. Please help SHARE her campaign as well, we gotta move fast for this poor doggy!

I take Gabapentin as needed for severe Carpal Tunnel in my hands, and it does not do a great deal for that so I can’t imagine how little it helps Girl Dog’s horrendous pain. I wish I could donate more but sending so much love to you guys.
